What Could Be The Reason For Having A Sore Knee? Required Treatment?

HI. My husband has just been to our local doctor. He has a sore knee which has been requiring for 6mths. His knee was run into in a game of footy. He can not kneel on the knee, has trouble with stairs and he drives a tractor which he is finding hard because of the clutching and hurts his knee. Has tried training again but knee swells up and painful.
The doc has put him on anti flammaroties and antibiotic's. What do you think it could be? What to do next?
Thank you Narissa

Narissa, it is not easy to comment on after hearing this history. It looks to me that your husband may have a knee cartilage damage or a ligament damage. I think first he should get MRI of knee , this will give us clear picture about your husband's knee.
