Hello
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
The possibilities of this toe swelling may be due to .
1 Gouty arthritis , diagnosis can be confirmed by uric acid examination ( blood ) . Usually in this type of condition patient develop swelling in great toe on either side.
2 Osteoarthritis may be the next reason .Diagnosis can be confirmed physical examination and blood for E S R.
3 Osteoporosis is the another cause , diagnosis can be confirmed by blood for calcium and bone density test.
4 Rheumatoid arthritis is another such cause. Diagnosis can be confirmed by R A factor examination.
In my opinion your shoe is not responsible for such type swelling , so deal as above mentioned .
Consult an orthopedic surgeon and get his opinion.
Good luck.
