What Could Be The Reason For The Blood Clots In The Metatarsal Fusion Operated Leg And The Swelling In The Foot Up To The Toe?

I had a triple arthrodesis procedure on 10/30/2013 along with a metatarsal fusion approximately 1 month post procedure I developed blood clots in operative leg went on the typical regiment for blood thinning, 4 weeks later foot started to swell while at rest on floor also noticeable was a color change in the foot forming a perfect circle around foot terminating mid way up foot from toes, once elevated symptoms would dissipate. I was given full Clarence to apply full weight on second day I turned with weight on that foot I heard a distinctive pop since then pain has increased along with swelling heal to toe up to the ankle skin so tight I can’t pinch the skin what does this mean and should I follow up with my surgeon.

Hi
I think there is a rupture of small arteriole ot venule in your foot which leads to internal bleeding and haematima formation.
You should get colour dooplar for arteriole as well as vein to know the exact location of rupture and then consult the vascular or plastic surgeon.
As it is may not be a big vessel it may not have big problem for blood supply in foot.
