What Could Be Wrong In The Tongue As It Does T Taste Right And Feels Odd After Novacaine Injection During Tooth Extraction?

I had novacaine for tooth extractions and bridge work. When injected with novacaine I definitely felt nerves in my tongue were hit. Now 2months later, my tongue feels odd on that side (furry) and food doesn t taste right. What is wrong and what can be done?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello. could you please tell which tooth were extracted, that is the lower or the upper jaw?
if the upper jaw tooth were extracted then your symptoms are not likely to be due to the injection, however if the lower ones were extracted then it is possible that the nerve to your tongue may have been damaged leading to the loss of taste. you dont have to worry as this is not permanent and will generally recover within 6 months. thanks
