What Could Cause Chest Pain Around Outer Breast Which When Pressed Causes Acute Pain?
Hi I have had a persistent chest pain to the right outer edge of my left breast for about 3 months. When I press on the area, the pain is sharp and more acute. I initially thought it might be a heart problem because I have been suffering extreme exhaustion and shortness of breath at any exercise. I also thought it might be muscular as my job can entail a lot of writing. I am 47 and reasonably fit.
I had general anasthetic on Wednesday last to remove polyps in the womb but I did not mention it in case they would not do the surgery. I wonder if its hormonal? It wakes me up at night and I have to move position in bed because of the pain. I have never really checked my breasts so I cannot say whats normal for it. Also because of the polyps, I've had periods lasting between one and three months this last couple of years so there isn't a "normal" level anyway.
Any ideas?

heavy period with a polyp in the womb may be a hormonal problem, but association of breast pain with easy exertion in a post menopausal women may suggest another problem. . thorough examination of breast is necessary if there is any small nodule or mass lesion. If it is do a biopsy first. you should do a simple chest x ray to exclude any pulmonary pathology. Biopsy report of womb polyp may give you help to exclude any possibilities of tumour. you should also visit a doctor for exclusion of pulmonary embolism, a serious disease as it may happen after a surgery with symptom of chest pain, dyspnoea.
