What Could Cause Cramps/ Spasm In The Leg And Inner Thighs After Suffering From Blood Clot In The Leg With Thrombophilia In Genes?

I previously suffered a blood clot in a lower superficial vein in my right leg. It began in an area on top of my foot, moved up through the ankle and lower leg. Thrombophilia is in my family genetics and I am a polio survivor age 5 1959 (was paralyzed from the waist down for approximately a year, lasting effects, right leg 1/2 inch shorter lower leg musles atrophied but not complaining I can walk) My question is in regards to muscle spams/cramps/pain such as those not only in the calf but the outside area of my ankle and the most painful the inner thigh (vastus medialis). I currently suffer from these throughout the day and night.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Cramps are painful spasms in a muscle and are often caused by overuse, dehydration, or nutritional deficiencies.
Following measure will help-
*Drink fluid-An electrolyte imbalance can be the cause of muscle spasms, so rehydrating with an electrolyte drink can help restore balance.
*Stretch the affected muscle with a mild, static stretch.
*Use ice to numb the pain in a cramp, reducing inflammation and allowing the muscle to relax.
*Bring the affected muscle into a relaxed position and apply direct compression to the cramp.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
