What Could Cause Dark Brown Saliva?

Hi. I am 35 yr male and I have dark brown saliva recently in the night. I have Ankylosing Spodylitis and am on Vicodin Oral and Prednisone injections. I recently had to stop taking NSAID's due to severe upper GI bleeding.
Is the saliva anything to do with upper GI bleeding?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

Aa per your complain and presentation of symptoms brown colour of saliva with a history of upper G.I bleeding is due to occult blood that is appearing in saliva secondary to GI bleeding and causing its brown colour..

You should consult your Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and you should get Endoscopy done to rule out for bleeding in the upper G.I Track and treatment can be planned accordingly..
