What Could Cause Discoloration In Arms After Waxing?
Hello Doctor , I was waxing my hands and I have been doing this for a while, but for the first time after i waxed I have like white patches on my hand as if i had a change in color of the skin or as if my tan has gone in specifi areas of my arm , does this go away or this discolouration forever?
I would keep a possibility of postinflammatory hypopigmentation that may have developed after possibly a 'Polymorphic light eruption' on arms. It is a very common reaction to light and develops on the extensor arms as patchy hypopigmentation. Waxing the arms may have made it appear more noticeable.
If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to apply a topical moderately potent steroid e.g fluticasone, twice daily for 2-3 weeks over the hypopigmented patches. That should make it fine.
regards
