What Could Cause Frequent Fainting In A Toddler With Flickering Of Eyes?
2 and a half year old gets dizzy, not able to stand and if she does try face plants the ground. Lasts about 10 minutes then she says better now. Second incident like this in 3. Months. Nil nausea or vomiting. First incidence eyes flickering side to side. Suggestions please
She could be having what is called - Vertigo. I would like to know if there is any other family member with similar illness or ant recent ear infection. Other possibility is acute cerebellar ataxia though it doesn't occur & disappear like this intermittently. Feel free to contact me if there any further queries.
From what you have described above , it appears that the child might be suffering from seizure disorder. Hence i suggest an EEG(electroencephalogram) which may help to diagnose seizure disorder. Further MRI scan of the brain will be very useful. The child should be evaluated by a cardiologist for heart disease also. If these investigations are normal there may not be a need for treatment. The child needs careful watch only at present.
