What Could Cause Pain In The Pubic Bone And While Urinating?

After waking up in the middle of the night, I had to pee very badly and when I did, it felt like it just fell out as soon as I sat down. Then after I stood up, I had this pain begin and became steadily worse (in my lower front abdomen)and remained very bad(to the point of tears) for the next 3 hours. This was 5 days ago and it is bearable now but when I move or even have flatulence, I get sharp pains that feel like I strained something and am distended in the very low region above my pubic bone. I had a cesarean 12 years ago(child # 5) and have had 2 vbacs since. My youngest is 7. Any suggestions? It feels like something is damaged.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This is in relation with calculus in the urinary system most probably. Strongly recommend to get an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis for the perfect diagnosis and management accordingly to cure it.

Till then you have to:
• Consume plenty of liquids as you can in the form of coconut water, lemon juice, green tea, coffee etc.
• Cranberry sachets once daily in a glass of water with citrus fruits help
• Use washroom as and when required, do not with hold the urination
• Keep genitals clean and dry
• Avoid sexual activities till this recovers

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
