What Could Cause Severe Pain Below Sternum?

I have a sever pain just below my sternum that has been going on for a few weeks now. It feels like indigestion, but the prilosec I took does not seem to help. When I burp it does feel better though. I am thinking maybe an ulcer? Also, over the past year, when I have been consistently subjected to very hot weather, I have gotten sever edema of the feet and ankles. They have done lots of bloodwork and it appears to be metabolic in nature (not thyroid, not liver.. etc) Would a stomach ulcer cause metabolic issues that would cause edema?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As of now you can use analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

Most probably it will be a musculoskeletal pain.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
