What Could Cause Sharp Pain In Abdomen Like Muscle Tear While Sneezing, Sitting And Standing?
Hi Doctor.
I have a sharp pain in my abdomen which started 2 days ago. It feels as if there's a muscle tearing. The pain started when I was sneezing and I felt some sort of muscle tear instantly in my abdomen. When I sneeze, attempt to do sit ups or after standing for long, the pain is worsened. What could this be and what can I do about it?
Hi. You look to be right in your diagnosis. Please get this confirmed by a clinical examination by a Surgeon and confirmed by high resolution ultrasonography. Id there is collection of blood in small amount, it can be left alone as the body will absorb it. If large this can be aspirated for an early recovery by the Surgeon. Rest will be of an utmost importance as is control of sneezing by antihistamine tablets and laxatives to avoid constipation - you have to avoid any movement that will strain the already ailing part. The Surgeon would also advise you to take some anti-inflammatory medicines. If the tear is large , it may be necessary to repair it. Take care. Recovery now will help a better prognosis.
