Hi,
The possible causes of short menstrual period with less blood flow are:
- Hormonal changes due to lifestyle modifications like changes in food habits, sleep disturbances, weight changes, PCOD (Poly Cystic Ovary Disease) etc.
- General conditions like anemia, elevated blood sugar levels, thyroid disorders, fluctuations in serum
prolactin levels etc.
- If you have undergone
dilation and curettage during abortion, there is rare possibility of
endometritis, asherman syndrome etc, which can affect the menstrual flow.
If problem persists, better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined and go for investigations like
ultrasound,
hemoglobin levels, blood sugar levels, thyroid profile, serum prolactin levels. With this workup the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
