What Could Delayed Periods With Sharp Pain In Ovaries Indicate?
Hi.My period is 4 days late. I usually have ovulation one week before period. More than one week ago i started having sharp pain in my ovaries from today in my uterus also. Since I m late i went to my doctor today with hope that he ll see on ultrasound that I have blood inside my uterus and will tell me that soon i ll get my period. He told me that I have it and I could get it in not more than 7 days from today, but also that it could possibly stay there if i m pregnant. And if I don t get my period in one week he said he ll be able to tell me if I m pregnant. I saw the photo on the computer and it looked like a shadow in the middle of my uterus. It was not very small so shouldn t that mean that is the blood for my next period? Shouldn t pregnancy look different than blood waiting for period?
The gestational sac forms around five to seven weeks after the last menstrual period in natural cycles, so it is usually visible between 3 and 5 weeks gestational age using a transvaginal ultrasound. Hence as your doctor said, you need to wait for a week at least to confirm pregnancy. Pelvic scan should also be taken to rule out ovarian abnormalities.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
