What Could Diarrhea During Periods While On Birth Control Indicate?

I take birth control and have been on it for a few years but the past 4/5 months I have been having diarrhea during my period. Then within the past two weeks I have been having more spouts of it randomly. Over the past two days it s gotten really bad and I end up in the bathroom 4-6 times a day when the norm for me is usually 2. I have not had any changes in diet other than taking in extra fluids to keep from dehydrating. It feels like a cramp before I go to the bathroom, even waking me up at 5am. When it comes out it is a very light brown bordering on orange. The water is also very cloudy and then my butt hole burns for a while later. I also feel very dizzy and nautious while I m going but I m not sure if that s dehydration or the start of one of my vasovagle episodes.

Hi,

Do you have any fever? Loose stools that are brown / orange stained, nausea and abdominal cramps may suggest dysentery. Burning over butt hole is due to skin tears from frequent wetting and friction. Dizziness might suggest dehydration.

For such cases, I used to give antibiotics like Cefixime or Ciprofloxacin for 5-7 days, along with paracetamol, probiotics and anti-emetics as needed. Your doctor will guide in this. Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids like ORS or salted rice water to avoid dehydration. Take in small frequent sips to avoid vomiting. To control burning there, avoid much rubbing while cleaning. Just water and mop dry. Applying an emollient (any diaper creams) will help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
