What Could Echoing Speech Post Intake Of Alcohol Indicate?
Hi I m so terrified..the day before yesterday i was drinking alcohol and smoking.when i woke up the next day when i cough or try to talk loudly there is an echo that follows.it sounds like I m shouting in an empty room or autotune.please help im so scared that something could be wrong.
Since you are hearing sounds that terrifies you after drinking alcohol, you are suggested to cut on alcohol intake and also smoking. Both are detrimental to your health. Excessive intake of alcohol may damage the brain and interfere with sound processing. It may cause hearing problems, tinnitus or permanent hearing loss if damage is left untreated and un-managed.
You should get clinically examined by an ENT, get Audiology tests done to detect the degree of hearing loss. You will need to get few imaging tests and blood workouts done. You may need medicines, hearing aid or surgery depending upon the pathology detected & your clinical condition.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
