What Could Increasing Swelling And Numbness In Lower Cheek While Being On High BP Medication Indicate?
My husband(62 yrs old), noticed his lower cheek, from the corner of his mouth to his jawline is swollen and numb. It just began about an hour ago and is getting bigger quickly. He doesn t have any other symptoms, no pain, etc. He does take meds for high blood pressure.
The swelling doesn't appear to be related to either high BP or the medications. Though the exact cause can be identified by examining the swelling, it is apparently a case of mumps (viral infection of the Parotid salivary gland) which appears rapidly and usually does not have any noticeable symptoms.
If the diagnosis of mumps is confirmed, he will require a course of anti-viral drug + oral steroids.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and will prescribe the advised drugs in appropriate doses.
