What Could Intense Pain In Right Calf Post Knee Resurfacing With Stem Cells Indicate?

My husband had a knee resurfacing in Mexico with stem cells. They used a spinal block. He was on bed rest for 3 days for the stem cells to be affective. Once he became mobile he experienced intense pain in his right calf. It is 8 weeks post op and he continues to have this pain. His doctor said it was muscular. The physio he recommended says it is neurological as does the chiropractor. Everything looks fine... we are at a loss as to what we can do Ideas???

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is already 8 weeks postop surgery for knee resurfacing with stem cells and the pain in the right calf continues. You already have taken opinion of surgeon, physiotherapist and chiropractor. I would advise for a color doppler examination of the affected limb.

This will help to rule out any vascular problem like DVT and also can find out if there is any collection or edema in calf muscles. MRI if needed can also be done. A proper diagnosis alone can help to have a specific treatment. MRI of lower spine if the pain is thought to neurological and like that of sciatica or nerve conduction studies.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
