What Could It Be If Having Sore, Inflammation On Tonsil?
Hi, I have a sensation in my throat like a peace of food was stuck under the back of my tongue, upon further review I have noticed a red skin tag like inflammation on my tonsil, what could this be? It s not sore or hurt, just annoying. If I touch it, it puts me in a gag reflex mode. Thanks
The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to a condition known as pharyngitis , which appear to you as a skin tag and create problem like gag . Viruses are the most common cause of sore throats ( pharyngitis ) , but some sore throats are caused by bacterial infections. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat culture and Blood Tests . It its due to viral infection then it will go away in few days without any treatment . If its bacterial then doctor will prescribe antibiotic course . For now take medication such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen to ease pain and reduce fever , gargling with warm salt water and using throat lozenges .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry Maheshwari
