What Could Persistent Crawling Sensation From Head To Toe Indicate?

I have been experiencing a crawling sensation from head to toe for weeks. Parasites, fungal infection have been ruled out. I take 175mg azathioprine daily for maintenance of an autoimmune disorder. I also take a 300 mg nightly dose of gabapentin and was just taken off of a 30 mg nightly dose of notriptyline. Blood work was done to rule out liver toxicity from meds and kidney function normal. Any clues as to what could be causing this extremely annoying and frustrating sensation which is making it hard to function on a normal level?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Side effects of azathioprine is skin rashes. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant and may affect your thinking and reactions, it may cuse dizziness and hallucinations. Nortriptyline can cause palpitations, loss of coordination and over active reflexes. It may cause or trigger schizophrenia or other mental illness.

You are suggested to talk to your treating doctor so that the dose of Nortriptyline can be tapered or replaced by a medicine that suits you better. Persistent crawling sensation can be indicative of tactile hallucination. You can take the help of a Counselor or Psychiatrist. Get treated at the initial stage.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
