What Could Recurring Itching In Body Indicate?

I am 55 years old but look like I am in my mid 30 s. I have taken extremely good care of my health my whole life. I would say for about a few years I sometimes have itching that I feel comes from inside as opposed to outside. There are no rashes or anything like that. It is like a the itch will go from one part of the body to somewhere else and then somewhere else. It is not constant but it does happen a few times a day. What do you think this might be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dry skin is a particularly common cause of itching without a rash, especially as we get older. Sometimes people have dry skin due to an underlying medical condition, such as an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) I suggest you to drink plenty of water and check the function of thyroid gland.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho
