What Could Redness And Pain On The Tailbone Above The Anus Indicate?
Right above my anus my tailbone is red and hurt. About 8 month ago I had this and a boil or csty that popped when in the shower. Had to put tissue paper there for 2 weeks to drain into it. I do not see a doctor when this happen. But this time it hurts more in that area. I feel s bump but not any thing to pop and it hurts to do any thing but lay on my side
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have redness and pain on the tailbone above the anus . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are due to pilonidal cyst . A pilonidal cyst is an abnormal saclike structure in the skin . It can get infected and cause an abscess . These cysts seem to be caused most often by an ingrown hair . I would suggest you to consult general surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may drain the cyst under local anesthesia and prescribe antibiotics at least for 5 days . For now apply warm compresses and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
