What Could Rise In Systolic Bp Suggest?
If my diastolic blood pressure is sometimes 59 or lower 60s with systolic being 130 or higher is this anything that I should be concerned about. My systolic has risen to the 130s or higher only in the last 6 months or so, having been 120 or less previously. I am 73.

Normal blood pressure is systolic 90 to 120 and diastolic 60 to 80 but some persons have readings below this and it is normal for them.
They may experience no symptoms of hypotension because these readings are their norm.
Symptoms of hypotension are dizziness, shortness of breath, clammy sensation.
Systolic between 120-139 and diastolic 80 to 89 are in the prehypertension range. Your systolic in this range means that you would be classified as a prehypertensive.
This is not full blown hypertension just means there is an increased risk of developing hypertension.
As persons age, due to changes in the blood vessels, the systolic tends to be at a higher stage than the diastolic.

HELLO N WELCOME, WHAT UR DESCRIBING IS CALLED AN ELEVATED PULSE PRESSURE, WHICH IN UR CASE IS NORMAL. MONITOR UR BP THRICE DAILY FOR A WEEK OR HAVE A 24 HOUR AMBULATORY BP MONITOR SETUP FOR ONE DAY TO DIAGNOSE IF U HAVE SPIKES OF ELEVATED BP. BUT 130 OR 140 IS PRETTY NORMAL. I WOULD ADVISE A ROUTINE FOLLOW UP WITH ECHO N ETT AS THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS COMBINED WITH AMBULATORY BP MONITORING. TAKE CARE. THANX
