What Could Runny Nose With Hoarse Voice In Infants Suggest?

Hi my 10 month old has had a runny nose the last week and has her two top teeth coming in. This morning noticed that her voice sounded very hoarse and she cannot make any sounds. She appears to be in fairly good form otherwise. What could this be? Will she need antibiotics?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Her situation could be related to an upper airway infection. For this reason, as she seems OK with no fever, I would recommend using saline for her nose and propolis spray for her throat. If she has fever or other symptoms like weakness, no appetite, irritability, I would recommend consulting with her pediatrician for a physical exam.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
