Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hello, the symptoms that you are describing and the findings of an elevated WBC and his ultrasound suggest appendicitis is a possible diagnosis. It is concerning that he is having rebound pain in that area as well. I would also suggest that he have renal testing such as a urinalysis and CRP level drawn. Is your son currently on antibiotics?
Your doctor should further evaluate with a possible surgical consult to determine if he needs to have surgery and the course of antibiotic treatment.
