What Could Sudden Dark Red Clump Discharge After A Week Of Clinical Abortion Indicate?

I had an in clinic abortion about a week ago and today a clump about the size of a golf ball (if it was formed into a ball) fell out of me when using the restroom.. It was dark red and looked like meat fat about an inch thick and maybe 3-4 inches long. It s concerning me. It didn t hurt just kind of fell out like nothing. I m wondering if it could be the placenta or is it just a huge clot?

Hi and welcome to HCM. Most women experience some bleeding after this type of procedure. The flow can vary and may last a few days to a few weeks. A common bleeding pattern is to experience cramping and passing clots (which may be large) or experience an increase in flow, 3-5 days after the procedure. The cramping may occur before passing clots. Clots are normal, and may be passed off and on for a few weeks. It is better that you avoid heavy lifting (more than 25 lbs.) and strenuous exercise for at least one week. Regards.
