What Could Sudden Pain In Left Eye With Puffiness And Itching Indicate?

i am a 34 yr old woman. i woke up in the middle of the night last evening at 4am with terrible pain in my left eye that was pretty constant, by the morning it puffed up a bit(still puffy). it is worsened by light and wind possibly? i have been using collyrium soothing for fresh eyes eye was, since 12pm. I ve had some relief, but today before i used the eye solution my right eye began itching, unfortunately? Something similar happened a few months ago, but no swelling, and was localized to one eye.... I saw a nurse practitioner on-call who literally had no idea how to use optometry equipment. I was prescribed antibiotic eyedrops, i believe. it cleared up within a day. This seems different, though...my eye is *puffy and *itchy, too. A few hours after using the drops my eye felt a little better. *zyrtec is not helping.
