What Could Sweaty Palms, Feet And Kneecaps In A Toddler Post Exposure To A Fright Indicate?

Hi!! My name is Graciela and I m really worried about my 4 yr old son Mauricio, yesterday he got really scared during the day and at night when he was trying to sleep, I noticed that he had sweaty palms and sweaty feet, wich never happend to him before, and today again before going to sleep he had sweaty knee caps too, so you think any of this symptoms has something to do to the fact of he got scared Sunday afternoon? General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sweating is a sign of body getting warm, sweat keeps it cool. Anxiety is also associated with sweating, and perhaps it's due to getting scared during the day. To me, should keep observing the reactions and behaviors of your son especially when he goes to sleep.

If the sweating will persist although the weather is not hot, then, should consult with his pediatrician to run a few tests to rule out thyroid problems. Meanwhile, try to calm your son down, and try to explain things to him, making him believe it's not worthy to get scared at that point.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
