Hello. Liqour amnii measurement is more commonly done after 30 weeks. However at 5months if there was a subjective increase in fluid do not worry. Your wife's doctor would check for the causes of increased fluid such as- fetal anomalies, diabetes in the mother etc. A lot of times there is no known cause for it and just a follow-up measurement on successive scans is done. Most women go on to deliver healthy babies. I would suggest a close watch on the fluid, cord, placenta through rest of the pregnancy.
Do not worry, and you can discuss in detail about the rest of the scan report pertaining to the growth of the baby, fetal parts and organs etc with your doctor. All the best.
