What Could The Knot Beneath Shin Bone After An Injury Be?

3 weeks ago i suffered a significant blow to my shin (while chopping wood). There is a large bony knot on the shin bone (not soft tissue) that is not going away. I have significant pain when I press the shin on the opposite side of the leg. I suspect a cracked bone. I also have what feels like bruising on the bone and soft tissue below the injury site and today I started getting cold flashes in the leg. I can walk on the leg with very little pain. Should I go to the ER or let it resolve itself?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a hematoma or inflammatory swelling. Consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated. You might require an MRI scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
