What Could Vaginal Cytopath Thin Prep With HPV ACU In Report Suggest?
I have had a normal pap smear 3 times already. Last week I went in for another pap smear and the doctor said she found some mucus on the cervix. After coming home I was looking at the walk out statement and found the following Vaginal Cytopath Thin Prep With HPV ASCU . I have not received my results as yet. What does this test mean and why is it ordered?

Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Mucus in cervix is normal. 2. HPV ASCU means human papilloma virus along with atypical squamous cells of unknown significance. It means you have a infection with Human papilloma virus. 3. At present, you do not have any malignancy. Future risk is present. You need to discuss with your doctor regarding this, as with the limited information available, I cannot comment further. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
