Hello,
Thank you for the query and welcome to healthcare magic
I understand your concern.
Here are a few things you need to know about the mediactions you are on.
-Take your
thyroid hormone before breakfast on an empty stomach
-
Omeprazole should also be taken 30 minutes before breakfast, but you should give a gap of atleast 2 hours between thyroid medication and omeprazole.
-Acids in stomach are required for the absorption of thyroid, and omeprazole decrease the amount of acid in stomach.Taking both together will decrese the thyroid hormone absorption. I also recommwnd that you follow up with your doctor to see if you need a thyroid dose adjustment.
-
Meloxicam is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug which can aggrevate acidity. It is given to reduce pain and inflammation. Meloxicam should only be taken along with food.
Regarding discontinuation of Meloxicam,
I would like to add that sometimes proper management of pain and inflammation is required to undergo
physical therapy. I suggest that you consult with your doctor to see if the meloxicam can be discontinued .
GERD /
Acid reflux is caused due regurgitation of stomach acids into
esophagus. It is best treated with PPIs like omeprazole. I do not recomment taking apple cider vinegar as it can increase the acidity of stomach. But there are few lifestyle changes that can help you with GERD
- Avoid fatty, fried and spicy food
-Do not go to bed/lay down immediately after eating
-exercise regularly,
weight loss if needed
-Raise the head end of bed by using wood blocks below bed post.Using extra pillows don't work.
Hope I was able to answer your questions
Please feel free to address any more concerns
