What Do Bruises On Heel And Toe Of A Toddler Suggest?
My daughter is almost 2. I noticed tonight that she has a bruise on the bottom of her foot (heel) and a smal bruise on her pinky toe. It was not there last night. She has been wearing tennis shoes with out socks the past few days. Should I contact my pediatrician right away? What could this be?
Hello, Thank you for asking at HCM. The areas your toddler has the bruises is an area that gets hurt easily and trauma there can cause bruises. Very likely this is the cause of the spots. Check her shoes to make sure if she has any small stone in the shoe or something that might hurt the foot. I would recommend that if otherwise she is doing well, just watch her for a week, the bruises should get bluish-yellow and than disappear. If new bruises are coming out or if the actual bruises get bigger or any worse locally or the child has any fever or seems unwell you will need to send her to see a doctor. Hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
