What Do Changes On The Mole Indicate?

There was an odd change in a mole I have on my shoulder. This must have happened later in the day because I didn t notice anything weird this morning when I changed clothes. The mole was originally a bit flat and brown but now it s pink, puffy, and a little itchy. When I first noticed it, it was a bit tender and taut like it was swollen but it seems to have calmed down a lot. There s also no fluid or blood coming from it. I will have a doctor look at it but I m not in a position to be able to get to one right away so I was wondering if this is in need of IMMEDIATE concern.

The changes you describe in your mole, including a change in color, puffiness, and itching, may suggest that the mole has become irritated or inflamed, or possibly even cancerous. Although these changes do not necessarily indicate that you have skin cancer, it is important to have your mole checked by a doctor as soon as possible.

If you are unable to see a doctor right away, monitor the mole closely and avoid picking or scratching it. If it becomes more painful, starts bleeding or oozing, or shows signs of infection such as redness or swelling, seek medical attention immediately.
