What Do Elevated Blood Pressure Levels While On Tamiflu Indicate?

I have the flu at the moment and on Tamiflu, antibiotic and steroid. My oxygen level has been around 90 and has gone to 87 but I have COPD. With a new wrist bp machine my pressure has run today 176/78 and 176/79. Does this seem dangerously high? Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This blood pressure though not dangerous but need consideration. I wonder that how was your blood pressure previously? I would advise you should check it few more times (and with a changed machine if you have any doubt about the machine) if still high I would advise you talk to your doctor to start drugs fro BP control. Steroids can increase blood pressure , this could be one reason but 176 is too high. So you probably would need some drug for your BP control if these are true readings however this is not dangerous at the moment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
