Yesterday morning the top of my right foot was tender when I woke up. Was tender all day. This morning when I woke up the outside of my big toe is red, tender and swelling. Becoming worse as the day goes on and seems to be spreading along the top of my foot. No fever.

Hello,

We need to know if there is any trivial trauma happened which might have caused you this condition.

If not, then prolonged immobilization can also cause this condition but since you say its increasing till the foot, then it can be either infectious cause or injury.

First, get an x-ray done of the foot to rule out if its traumatic fracture, if not you can take antibiotics which will treat the infection within 5 to 7 days.

Any antibiotic you can get after prescription from the nearest doctor. If you have pain you can always take Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Tramadol or Diclofenac medicines for temporary relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
