Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to Hot yoga last Sunday. I have gone many times with nothing to report. This time I got a small red itchy raised rash on my side. I did not lay directly on the floor, I believe I stayed on my own mat. Its been almost a week and the rash has remained itchy and red. Now when I look at it, its kind of a red circular rash with almost normal skin in the middle. Its only slightly larger than a quarter, but still very bothersome.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
From your explanation it looks like an insect or bug bite while doing the yoga and it has caused a localized allergic reaction that is causing you the circular itchy rash. As there are no other symptoms so you need not to worry as the allergic reaction will gradually subside. For now to reduce inflammation you can apply steroid ointment like Betamethasone. To reduce itching yo can also take anti allergics like Benadryl. Do ice packs over the red area. Maintain a good hygiene and avoid scratching too much as it can increase inflammation..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
