Eight weeks ago a itchy rash started on my legs. My dermatologist put me on a course of prednisone which helped at the time but the rash returned and started spreading. One week ago dermatologist put me on triamcinolone .1% cream, legs wrapped in saran at night. Legs got a little better, stopped itching, but rash spread to arms and torso. Yesterday, my left arm became red, swollen and painful, but my temperature is my normal 97.6. Internist put me on cephalexin 500 mg and I have taken 4 so far. This morning my right leg is red, swollen and very painful and my temperature is 99.3
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Itchy rashes can be due to eczema, psoriosis, dermatitis, ring worms, allergies, etc. Take antihistamines, and stop using triamcenolone acetonide cream, rashes are spreading because it is causing allergy. Side effects of Triamcenolone acetonide cream are skin rashes, itching, burning, irritation, etc. Inform your treating dermatologist so that the prescribed ointment can be changed. You can continue to take prednisone. Take a warm bath, get the clothes & bed sheets washed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
