Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 6 year old son had very painful calf cramps this evening. I massaged them and flexed his feet which seemed to help after about 15 minutes. Just now, 2 hours after leg cramps, he woke up and ran out of his room very confused and scared. He seemed disoriented and I wasn’t sure if he was “awake” or not. He couldn’t form any words but kept saying, “owie”. Should I take him to the ER?
Yes, you have to take him immediately to ER (Emergency Room). Leg pain with altered consciousness may be due to myoclonic epilepsy with confusion or meningitis or Hypokalemia or anemia et cetera.
Please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
