What Do My PSA Test Results Indicate?

I had a psa test done a few weeks ago and the result was 8.25. Prior to that ,,,,a few years ago the result was 1.5. I have an appointment with a local urologist and was wondering what best questions should I be asking. It is correct that testing after sexual activity and riding a lawn mower actually has an effect on the result, or is this just bs?

Hi

Sexual activity can cause very negligible variation in the results, but the lawn mower is in your words 'bs'.

Although your results have increased quite a bit which cannot be blamed on the activities mentioned, and the main question you need to ask is the diagnosis and the way forward.

The most common cause for prostate enlargement is BPH and requires treatment with medications like dutasteride and tamsulosin.

Please check if you require a biopsy with your doctor and how you need to go about managing your prostate health.

Best wishes
