What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

I tested positive to hbv and the profiling test shows the ffg; HBsAg- positive HBsAb - negative HBeAg - negative HBeAb - positive HBcAb - positive The doctor said the LFT shows that the liver has not been affected. I was placed on silybon 140. I have a feeling that I contacted it some 4 months ago and my wife tested negative. How serious is my condition? Can it be cured?

Thank you for your question.
I understand your concern. According to your blood reports, you have a chronic infection with Hepatitis B virus. It also shows that the disease is not in an active state at present. Also your liver function tests are normal. Hence active treatment at present is not required. Silybon is a liver protective medicine and you may continue to have it. You will have to repeatedly test your LFT values and may need to initiate treatment if any derangements are found. Though your condition is an important one, there is nothing to panic about since very effective treatments are available if and when your liver starts getting affected by the virus. Hence please do not worry. You have mentioned that you feel you contracted the infection about 4 months ago. Would you be kind enough to elaborate why you feel so?
Another important advice I would like to give you is to consider vaccinating your close family members against the hepatitis B virus. And avoid sharing personal care items such as toothbrushes or razors.
I hope my answer has put you at ease and I would be glad to clear any further doubts you might have if you get back to me.
