My mom is 94. She was admitted to the hospital today due to sever lower right abdomen pain. After blood work and CT scan to r/o appendix or kidney stone which they were able to rule out, they found she has colitis. She also has a urinary track infection. They took a stool sample and are waiting for results. She is having a lot of loose stools and they have mentioned possibly C Diff. Can she make a recovery from all this or will she just widdle away to nothing. She is only 99lbs now. She has lost several pounds the past 6 months. My mom has many many health issues.
There is definite treatment for it and off course, she will come out of it as she is having Colitis.
Sometimes, due to antibiotics Clostridium difficile infection growth occurs which is otherwise normal commensal flora of intestine. So, do not worry she will be fine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
