What Do Night Sweats Along With Fatigue And Dry Cough Indicate?
HI. My mother has been suffering from severe night sweats, extreme fatigue, and a dry cough. She experienced this for several months last winter also. At that time her dr did blood work to check her thyroid, but all was normal. Her doctor also checked something with her lymph nodes, but that was also normal. She did show a higher than normal platelet count. My mom is 66 years old. She has osteoporosis and a b12 deficiency but otherwise she has always been very healthy. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, ThanksFor asking.I understand your concern. Dry cough &night sweat with fatigue indicates chronic lung problem... like allergic brinchitis (without fever)/tuberculosis (with low grade fever with evening rise) You should get detailed examination of chest/blood differential counts/Mx test /x ray chest ... followed by specific treatment. Please consult a chest physician. Thanks.
