Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello doctor My brother DAM 20 years aged was suffering from osteoserocoma where he undergone knee replacement as it found at the knee joints. next for three years since there we re no signs of any thing on routine checkup. now all off sudden he got diagnosed with noudles in lungs which are of 5mm in size at 3 different spaces(1 right and 2 left).he has undergone surgery for the same . my question is what should be the further treatment after the surgery and what is the stage of this cancer and what is the survival rate for this
Based on the history you have shared, he needs to be evaluated with a fresh bone scan and PET scan too if needed to rule out distant metastases of the disease.
Also, the biopsy of the resected nodule should be done to assess whether it's part of a previous disease or ant other growth.
If part of the same disease it already suggests distant metastasis or spread and in vital organ so prognosis may be bad if so and life expectancy may drop down to few months.
However, with palliative treatment life span may be slightly better than untreated individuals.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
