Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my blood pressure is 124 over 82 sometimes 126 over 88 pulse is 114 to 116 I have been diagnosed with mitral regurgitation and I am taking Metoprolol Tartrate to help correct the problem. but for the last few days my heart has been fluttering my pulse has increased past norm. do I need to go to hospital to have it checked
You didn't mention how severe was your mitral regurgitation. However when your heart flutter I would advise getting a checkup done it's needed for your mitral regurgitation as well to see the progress but more importantly here we would like to rule out atrial fibrillation, (doing an ECG or holter), which is a complication of mitral regurgitation and can cause fluttering of the heart. So I would say yes you should have a checkup now.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
