Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I was wondering if you could give me some input on something. Over the past year I have been experiencing palpitations. It was pretty frequent back in the spring and I did go to my doctor and ask about it. We checked my thyroid levels (I have a family history) they were all normal, he said it could be stress and sent me on my way. It hasn t been an issue again until the last couple of days. My heart seems to be pounding in my chest at times. I ve checked my pulse and it feels regular and the rate is in the 80s. I m a nurse as is my roommate so we checked my BP as well and it was 92/58. This is low for me as I am normally 100s/60s. Any thoughts on what this might be (if it is anything?)
The persistent palpitation can be related to disturbances with the conduction path of the heart as SA or AV node, Bundle of His or Purkinjee system most likely. As the pulse and blood pressure are within normal limit, it does not rule out underlying minor or major abnormality. It is highly recommended to get an EKG for best evaluation and further guidelines accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
