What Do Rashes All Over The Arms And Legs Indicate?
my 7 year old daughter has a rash all over her arms and legs which looks like sorirosis. Went to urgent care today and they gave her a steroid and instructed to only use baby soap and shampoo and wash her clothes only in hot water for a few days. follow up with a dermo.
Rashes over extremities has many causes. Most of the times it's harmless and self limiting. The following are some of the common causes of skin rash in children:
1) Papular urticaria.
2) Allergic contact dermatitis.
3) Exanthematous rashes associated with fever.
4) Drug allergy.
5) Worm infestations.
6) Scabies only with a detailed examination of the affected areas in person by a specialist(dermatologist), we can arrive at a specific diagnosis and thus appropriate treatment. Steroid is useful but only in case of any allergic causes and that too topical application is enough and systemic consumption (oral or parenteral) is not advised in children.
Hope you understand the importance of a derma consultation. If the rash is itchy or burning, you can apply calamine lotion topically. Any further queries, please let me know. I'm happy to assist you medically. Thank you for the query.
Take care
Regards,
