What Do Rashes All Over The Body Indicate?
I have a rash in various part all over my body from head to feet. I thought it was a reactiion to medication for gas problems . I took one gas chewable tablet aand within 1/2 an hour I started feeling strange around my mouth. Checking in a mirror I noticed my lips on one side had swollen. I assumed it was hives reaction to the medication. Went to the doctor next day, she put me on benydryl and prednisone. I am still very itchy and it keeps coming out in new places. I did have the Shingles shot last Sept.

Lip swelling, itching and hives after taking tablets is highly suggestive of acute urticaria. Majority of gas relief tablets contain Simethicone drug. Simethicone is known to cause side effects such as rash, itching and hives. Lip swelling or face swelling may also happen in acute urticaria.
It is an allergic reaction which causes a release of histamine. Therefore, the mainstay of treatment is antihistamine drugs such as Benadryl. Antihistamines will not cure the hives, but only helps by blocking histamine, a substance that causes allergy symptoms such as itching, rash and swelling. Steroids (prednisone) inhibit histamine release. Complete resolution of urticaria may take several days. Continue taking Benadryl and prednisone.
Try to put cool wet compress on the affected area, take cool bath/shower. Cold helps to alleviate itching and swelling. Also wear loose fitting clothes and sleep in a cool room.
