Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash all over my body, mainly my les and back, and arms. It appeared overnight. I went to my family doctor an he said it’s dermatitis and prescribed prednisone. I have red dots, not raised but just little red dots. How long will it take to go away?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query, you have symptoms of rashes all over the body which seems to be due to allergic reaction and could be contact dermatitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper hygiene and take antihistamine like benadryl. Apply cold compresses and avoid pricking and itching these areas.
Avoid applying any cosmetic and apply only petroleum jelly. If it is due to allergy, it will go away in 5 to 7 days. If symptoms keep on persisting, then you should consult dermatologist once for proper examination.
Doctor may order skin test or allergy test along with blood test. Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
