What Do Recurring Cough And Presence Of Calcific Focci In Chest Mean?

Salam. My younger sister is 13 years old and is having cough with sputum(not excessive) at least from 1.5 months amd is not responding from medicine... There was few days where medication reduced the cough episodes but issue is again same. Her Chest x-ray showed few small calcific focci but it is written that these focci are insignificant. Plz let me know what does the scenario means???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
The calcific foci just mean that she has been exposed to an infection that her body has taken care of by walling it off. I agree that these are almost always not a problem. The cough could be a sign of asthma. Some children have something called cough cough variant asthma. She needs pulmonary function testing to rule out asthma. If it is not asthma then it may be allergies.
